Bird's House Studios is an art studio which specializes in encaustic pressed flower artwork.   Jana Joplin Johnson is the artist who produces the work in her studio located in Oakland, TN. Jana is an encaustic artist who uses encaustic art to express her love for nature and the outdoors.  Whenever possible the flowers are sourced from her own backyard gardens or local flower shops. 

The flowers used in encaustic pressed flower art are meticulously pressed to retain their shape and color. They are then delicately encased in multiple layers of beeswax mixed with damar resin, which allows it to harden and acts as a protective barrier and preserves their natural beauty forever. 

Yes, all of the flowers used in our encaustic pressed flower art are real.  We carefully select and source a variety of flowers, ensuring that only the highest quality of blooms are used in our creations. 

With proper care and handling, encaustic pressed flowers can last forever.  With proper care and handling the wax coating protects the blooms from moisture and aging, preserving their vibrant colors and delicate details timelessly. 

Absolutely!  We offer the option to create custom pieces for our clients.  Simply reach out to us with your request.  Keep in mind that certain flowers press better than others, but we can offer recommendations on which flowers press the best etc.
